Originally finished in Reno Red over a Red leather interior and black convertible top, this Austin Healey 100-4 was delivered new to Los Angeles and fitted with a heater, and laminated windscreen. Its most recent restoration by the Philadelphia-based marque specialists at BRC saw the car refinished in its current color scheme of black over green AutoMat leather upholstery with contrasting black piping. The bodywork is said to have been in excellent condition prior to the restoration, and it retains correct serial stampings throughout.
According to the accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, the Austin-Healey still retains its original engine. Its U.S.-market miles per hour Smiths speedometer was reset following a mechanical restoration, which included work to its engine and suspension.
Acquired by the consignor in 2018, the car received a number of upgrades to improve drivability, which included convertiving the electrics to a 12-volt system, fitting LED yellow front lights with rock guards, a high-flow aluminium radiator and an electronic ignition. To add to its aesthetics, the original wire wheels were changed to wheels with chrome spokes, the front and rear bumpers were removed, as was the convertible top. At the same time, the car was fully serviced and its odometer is showing just 619 miles accumulated since the completion of its restoration. Importantly, all parts removed will accompany the car in its sale.
Amongst the most attractive sports cars of its era, these Austin-Healeys are truly as good to drive as they are to behold. This attractive example would be no exception to that rule.
