The fifth generation of Maserati's Quattroporte debuted in September 2003, with evocative modern Pininfarina styling on an all-new chassis with a naturally aspirated dry-sump V-8 engine. Boasting fine front-rear weight distribution and unequal-length suspension with coil springs and anti-roll bars on both axles, it was a fine four-passenger performer in the best tradition of Maserati's "ultimate sedan."

The Quattroporte S Executive GT offered here was purchased new by James F. Scott in 2011, at an MSRP of $148,655, and was intended to be his "daily driver" in the best of weather. Unfortunately, his failing health prevented its widespread use, and today it remains in superb condition throughout, with fewer than 4,000 actual miles.

As is typical of the model, the car is loaded with options and accessories, including a power sunroof and rear window sunscreen, 14-way adjustable heated front seats, 11-speaker Bose sound system with USB connection, Sirius XM satellite radio, navigation and Bluetooth capabilities, four-zone climate control, and lavish Italian leather and mahogany trim. The massaging rear seats, veneered rear writing tables, and rear window curtains were all standard on the Executive trim level, as were the 19-in. eight-spoke ball-polished alloy wheels and chrome mesh grilles.

Very much in the character of the other sporting and luxury automobiles in the Scott Collection, this car was among his favorites late in life. It would be a fine addition to any similarly minded enthusiast's stable, and a "like-new" thrill to drive or be driven in.
