This 1937 Cord 812 is a desirable factory supercharged four-seat Phaeton, recently out of 22 years of single ownership and offered with a well-maintained older restoration. Presented in cream over a red leather interior and black canvas top, this 812 is a certified Category 1 Original car by the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Club, and it features its matching-numbers engine, per the ACD certificate and production records compiled by author Josh Malks.

This desirable 812 is authentically detailed, with red painted steel wheels wearing correct chrome wheel covers, as well as factory fog lights, dual integrated taillights, and the iconic exposed exhaust flex-pipes. A highlight of any Cord 812 is the elaborate dash. The fascia is finished to match the upholstery, with an engine-turned instrument panel housing an array of aircraft-inspired dials. This car features an original 150 mph speedometer—admittedly optimistic for 1937, but reflecting the 812’s intended purpose as a high-performance grand tourer. Performance is assured thanks to its numbers-matching L-head Lycoming V-8, topped with a Schwitzer-Cummins supercharger and rated for 170 horsepower.

Gordon Buehrig’s magnificent Cord 812 is a particularly intriguing and advanced prewar American car. This attractive example is an excellent choice to enjoy in driving events with the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Club or Classic Car Club of America, and it is sure to be a welcome addition to any collection of iconic automobiles.
