This Volkswagen has a “retro, old school bug” way about it, having been lowered and carrying signage that portrays as being a vehicle advertising “Grumpy Ed’s Speed Shop” which was “established in 1966” in Kingsport, Tennessee. The paint has a weathered look that creates a patina that many hot rod builders pay handsomely for at the completion of their projects. Custom pinstriping is also prevalent on the exterior. Additional features include the luggage rack, sliding sunroof, factory VW hubcaps, sound system and wicker-style underdash shelf for a convenient place to store your loose belongings while travelling. The retro “Bug” is powered by a horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine that is paired up with a manual transmission. Grumpy Ed seems to want to leave little doubt that he is the cantankerous sort, as along with the sparkplugs in the side graphics, he may have to do some of his “tune-ups” with the displayed brass knuckles.
