This customized Mercury Station Wagon is reported to be the 202 model, in which only 5,504 were reported as being produced. The front “Thunderbolt” look has a fiberglass teardrop-shaped hood with “inner headlamp air hose to fiberglass air cleaner with K&N filters.” The original hood with a matching color scheme is also included.
The car is presented in PPG “Vanilla Shake” and “Toreador Red.” The power is derived from a 302 that was rebuilt in 2005 with “Keith Black flat top pistons, Comp Magnum 292 cam, 260 comp spring heads, Weiand intake with Edelbrock 600-cfm carb and Mallory unilite and Excel wires.”
In 2012, a complete Ron Francis wiring kit is reported to have been installed, along with sound and heat insulation from the firewall to the rear. In the original places on the dashboard are Auto Meter gauges. The brakes feature drums at the back and front discs. The power is transferred through a Ford automatic with overdrive and a TransGo shift kit, B&M shifter and frame-mounted cooler. The rear end is an eight-inch with 3.80:1 gearing. Blackwall tires and custom wheels add up to a nice and uncommonly seen mid-‘60s Mercury custom wagon.
