For most of its first 15 years, Mercury was a Ford-based, medium-priced car with a longer wheelbase. However, for 1955 it was given a personality of its own. The new Mercury was longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor, and it featured a bold grille-bumper assembly and vestigial rear fender contours with bright trim. Mechanically, it had a 292 cubic inch version of the Y-Block, overhead-valve V-8, ball-joint independent front suspension, and a live rear axle on leaf springs. Total production numbers for the 1955 Montclair Sun Valley glass top models was 1,787.

This highly desirable glass top Mercury receives power from a Y-block 292-cid, 198-hp V-8 engine that is paired to a three-speed automatic transmission. The exterior has been tastefully adorned with brightwork, fender skirts, polished wheel covers and whitewall tires. The body is finished in white paint that is highlighted with turquoise tone on the roof and around the base of the windows. The car is optioned with power steering and power brakes. Inside the car, the turquoise paint is carried through to the dash and steering wheel. The interior is tailored with a two-tone black and white interior with a fold-down armrest in the rear seat.

This car has previously lived a portion of its life in California; preserving it as a solid car for the next caretaker.
