Shasta began building travel trailers in 1941. For 2015, Shasta has created a nearly exact replica of its iconic 1961 Shasta Airflyte 16SC Travel Trailer, complete with the legendary Shasta wings. This re-release has been scheduled for a limited construction of 1,941 trailers and will be available in all three original colors; Matador Red, SeaFoam Green, and Buttercup Yellow. Shasta has paid close attention to duplicate every small detail down to the original Shasta logo magazine rack. The new Shasta Airflytes will also feature an all-in-one bathroom with a toilet and shower in place of the closet to meet the desires of today’s campers.

The Shasta’s windows are the same size as the original, as are the distinctive wings. Among the other carried over traits of the original issue travel trailer are solid birch wood cabinet doors with “chevron” handles, “scalloped” cabinet doors, trademark logo magazine rack, tuck and roll seating cushions and 4.0 cubic foot refrigerator. Among the upgrades are a two-inch wider entrance door, 39-inch wide twin bed at the rear, nearly 6.5-ft interior height, concealed flip-down stabilizer jacks, friction hinge door and 15-inch radial whitewall tires.

Among these features on the red and white travel trailer are a microwave oven, eight gallon gas/electric hot water heater, three-burner cooktop, LED interior lighting, three-way awning, 15-inch radial whitewall tires, concealed AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth, exterior speakers, concealed 5,000-btu air conditioner and LED exterior lighting. Other highlights include a one-piece metal roof, QAI Canadian compliance, 25-gallon fresh water tank, 11-gallon black water tank, 18-gallon gray water tank – all in a package that will sleep up to three people.

It also comes with an RVIA seal. As members of RVIA, manufacturers who display the seal must self-certify compliance with more than 500 safety specifications for electrical, plumbing, heating, fire and life safety established under the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard for Recreational Vehicles. Manufacturers are subject to periodic, unannounced plant inspections by RVIA representatives to audit their compliance. Members who fail to maintain an acceptable level of compliance can be expelled from the Association, which prohibits them from displaying the RVIA seal on their products. This certification confirms the fine quality that this Shasta Airflyte displays.
