The Japanese “Fairlady Z” sports car was always a big hit in its native country, but possibly an even bigger hit in the United States. From the inception of this car it was sold in the U.S. under the Datsun name until 1984. Yutaka Katayama was president of the Nissan Motors operations in the USA, and was the main reason behind the Z being imported to the U.S. so quickly.
This 280Z convertible is believed to have 39,327 actual miles. Adding to the rarity, it is turbocharged, which makes it 1 of only 200 that received the conversion. Under the hood is the turbocharged 2.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine that is paired with the sporty five-speed manual transmission. The paint is code-411 which is Sunburst Yellow, and the interior has bucket seats, a Kenwood AM/FM radio, a working clock and a tonneau cover. The car also features Mag wheels, rack and pinion steering, power brakes, chrome bumpers and the original owner’s manual.
