The Z28, first introduced in 1967, was designed to defeat the Mustang in SCCA racing – which it did, winning the Trans Am championship in both 1968 and 1969. Essentially an option package for the Camaro, it was the brainchild of Chevy marketing and competition whiz Vince Piggins. At its heart was a specially built 302-cid V-8 crafted from the 327-cid block and the short stroke 283 crank. Published horsepower was rated at 290-hp, though estimates of its real horsepower range from 350- to 400-hp. These racing successes helped the Z28 Camaro evolve into a desirable option, by 1969 over 20,000 examples were built.

The Z28 being offered is reported as an original X-33 code example with a correct Hi-Po 302-cid V-8 (3932388 block casting) with the dual-quad crossram manifold, four-speed Muncie M22 rock crusher manual transmission and 12-bolt rear end. The Camaro is finished in Garnet Red with black stripes, black vinyl roof and deluxe black interior. Additionally its features include Z28 special performance package (heavy-duty suspension, dual exhaust system and spoiler package, heavy-duty radiator and temperature-controlled fan and quick-ratio steering), power steering, rare four-wheel JL-8 disc brake package (only 203 cars came with this option), rosewood steering wheel, cowl induction hood, console and Rally wheels with proper Goodyear wide tread GT whiteletter tires.
