The 1969 Hurst/Olds was a limited production custom special from Oldsmobile and Hurst Performance Research that was based on the Oldsmobile 4-4-2 Holiday Coupe. It was considered to be the ultimate expression of Oldsmobile-engineered high performance hardware that was put together in this special package by Hurst.
And a potent package it was. Powered by a stout 455-cid, 380-hp V-8 engine; this particular example also has an automatic transmission. On the hood you will find the dual air inlets that allow in the cold and dense fresh air that ups the power ante. Bold custom stripes in gold and a rear spoiler that was stated to utilize its negative lift properties to turn high-speed air turbulence into road-grabbing rear traction. Low-drag racing-type mirrors ad distinctive Hurst/Olds emblems on the front quarter panels and rear decklid also add to its uncommon flavor. It is well-established that the rear badge will be the one most viewed on the road.
Among the other equipment on this particular H.O. Hurst is front disc with rear drum brakes, factory Super Stock wheels with gold highlights, factory air conditioning, bucket seats, mini console, radio with 8-track tape player, tilt steering wheel and a Hurst dual-gate shifter mechanism. This Hurst Olds is reported as being a “98-percent original car” that has been signed by Doc Watson and “Miss Hurst Golden Shifter” Linda Vaughn on the inner surface of the trunklid. It is also accompanied by its original build sheet, original manuals and sales brochure.
This outstanding 1969 Hurst/Olds is one of just a reported 240 cars factory equipped with air conditioning, out of a total production of 906 cars. Built by Demmer Engineering to the specifications of Jack “Doc” Watson of Hurst Performance, the Hurst/Olds remains one of the quickest, fastest, and most coveted musclecars of all time.
