In 1966 the top of the Nova range was the Super Sport. Only 5,481 Nova SSs carried the astonishing Corvette-derived L79. The 327-cid engine offered near-instant delivery of 350-hp that left large-bore competitors struggling to catch up. Car and Driver's Patrick Bedard enthused, “The 350-bhp 327 in approximately Corvette tune, dropped into a Chevy II, didn't have the jukebox magic of a 409 or a 427... You might not notice a Chevy II in traffic until he got half a car-length on you. Even in a boss machine, you might have to run 80 or 90 mph to get it back."

The second generation Nova for 1966 replaced the boxy early design with more aggressive contours. Many consider 1966 to be the pinnacle of the Nova as the appealing new shape paired with the best selection of engines. For 1967 the L79 option was gone as it was one year only adding to the desirability of the 1966 models for collectors.

This Tuxedo Black car with black vinyl interior has only 65,000 miles and has been repainted once, but never restored. The colors match the trim tag as delivered new. It comes certified by respected Chevrolet historian Jerry MacNeish as an original L79 car still possessing its original engine and factory 12-bolt rear axle. The level of detail in the engine bay is incredible. The interior features original bucket seats, newer carpets AM radio, electric clock and pristine under dash Chevrolet factory tach and standard gauges. This beautiful and rare L79 Nova SS no doubt checks all the right boxes.
