For 1970, the Chevelle was restyled and the result has been arguably called the boldest looking, mid-sized muscle Chevrolet ever. The LS6 Chevelle is well-balanced in handling, braking and comfort, but the LS6 454-cid engine is best remembered for brute force and acceleration: a classic design, in many ways, at core of the musclecar movement.

In 1970, the SS 454 LS6 was the largest engine option for Chevelle models, producing 450 horsepower from 454 cubic inches. With its added horsepower and torque, the LS6 received a forged-crank with four-bolt main block, four-barrel carburetor, a 12-bolt rear axle, and an F41 suspension package, which included a rear sway bar. Chromed SS wheels, a pin-lock hood, a blacked-out grille, and SS badging were all standard while bucket seats, a center console, gauge package, posi-traction, and a 4.10 rear end were all offered as optional equipment. As one of the most powerful musclecars ever to come out of Detroit, the relatively few LS6 Chevelles in existence are among the most desirable collector cars in today’s market.

The 1970 Chevelle SS offered here was restored in 2006 and still retains the factory LS6 454-cid with 450-hp and dual exhaust. The car is equipped with an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, radio and a cowl induction hood. The body is finished in gold with an accessory black vinyl top, racing stripes, SS badging and Goodyear Polyglas white-letter tires on SS wheels. The interior has front black bucket seats, rear bench seat and a center console.
