For 1935, Ford claimed, “Greater Beauty, Greater Comfort, Greater Safety.” Few modern enthusiasts would dispute that claim. Ford redesigned their cars with a lower and more streamlined appearance. Fender outlines were much more rounded and the windshields were more sloped than before. Cowl lights were a thing of the past as parking lamps were now integrated into the headlight housing. All Fords now had front hinged doors and the headlamp shells were body colored. The redesign efforts allowed engineers to move the engine and the cowl forward a whole eight inches. This increased the passenger compartment a corresponding distance and allowed them to put the rear-seat passengers in front of the rear axle without lengthening the chassis. This noticeable improvement was called “Center-Poise Ride.” All of these design features become perfect platforms for the street rodder’s drawing board.

This beautiful 1935 Ford roadster has been nicely modified into a very usable street machine. The body is all steel and utilizes no major fiberglass components. Under the hood, a more modern 351-cid Windsor V-8 takes center stage with an Edelbrock intake, four-barrel carburetor, Competition camshaft and more. It is stated to produce 350 horsepower. A five-speed Mustang transmission is also installed along with Mustang front suspension, disc brakes and an eight-inch rear end. Other new additions include the bumpers, stainless fuel tank, aluminum wheels and Viper radial GT tires. The Stafast canvas top covers the custom interior that is finished in black and orange cloth and leather upholstery. An Alpine sound system, Pro Comp gauges, Grant banjo wheel and a myriad of tasteful pinstripe can be found adorning the original dash board. Both original 1935 Ford parts and modern technology make this roadster a sure winner.
