Chevrolet countered Ford’s Ranchero with its new El Camino model in 1959. The name meant "The Road" in Spanish, and Chevrolet stressed its car-like platform and styling, which was combined with the functionality of a truck bed. Originally based on the Impala, the half car - half truck survived for only two years, but reappeared in 1964 based on the Chevelle line. This new El Camino shared most of its underpinnings and powertrains (including high performance engines) with the Chevelle.

This stunning 1968 El Camino is clean and ready to impress. It has a fresh yellow-gold paint finish with a ghost-like flame job. This El Camino is stated to sport a year and model correct small block 327-cid V-8 rated at 275 horsepower, automatic transmission, power disc brakes, power steering, electronic ignition, Edelbrock carburetor, chrome valve covers, tube headers and a complete Flowmaster dual exhaust system. The engine compartment is extremely clean and well laid out. The freshly restored interior features a full bench seat covered in new black vinyl upholstery, radio delete plate, tilt steering column and thick wood Grant steering wheel with polished aluminum accents. This classic ride still retains its stock suspension height and smooth ride, with 20" five-spoke two-toned alloy rims and low profile tires, bring this beauty up to date. It is noted to have superb handling. This third generation body styling by Chevrolet represents one of the most collected and respected eras of El Caminos produced.
