Chevrolet’s first-generation Camaro facelift would serve the 1969 model year only, arguably making it the most recognized and sought after Camaro built. While major mechanical components were carried over from 1968, new sheetmetal, except the hood and trunklid, gave the car a substantially sportier look. The SS performance package came with either a 350-cid or 396-cid V-8, upgraded suspension for better handling and SS badging. You could build your Camaro to suit your own personal requirements – from an economical family car, all the way to a spirited sports car.

This 1969 Camaro SS Convertible received an older rotisserie restoration that remains in pleasing condition and is finished in classic Hugger Orange, with black Strato-Bucket front seats and power-operated convertible top. It is powered by the Turbo Jet 396-cid big-block V-8 backed by an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes and an AM/FM radio.

The redesigned Camaro now looked longer and had a lower stance. Chevrolet advertised that this car was in a league of its own; with subtle front and rear spoilers, factory SS wheels, Goodyear Eagle tires and dual mirrors you will be pleased with that assessment. The 1969 Camaro is one of the most recognizable stars from the musclecar era of American auto manufacturing. Selling over 280,000 examples is ample evidence of the cars popularity when new. The similarities between the 1969 edition and the latest Camaro illustrate what an exciting vehicle this machine is still rightfully considered.
