The Triumph TR6 was the most popular product offering in the TR range by the time production ended in mid-1976, with a total production of 91,850 units. All TR6s featured the virtually bulletproof inline six-cylinder engines, which put out a stout 106 horsepower in naturally-aspirated, U.S.-spec form. The TR6 featured a four-speed manual transmission, which lent itself to long cruises on rolling country roads or higher-speed motorway travel.

The example offered here puts out more than the stock 106-horsepower owing to replacement of the original SU carburetors with desirable dual Weber carburetors mounted on a special intake; it is also fitted with an exhaust header, rollbar and possibly a performance camshaft. This TR6 is in very solid condition, having spent the first two decades of its life in dry Texas before moving to Coventry, Connecticut in 1992. It remained with the same owners in Connecticut until 2005 until passing to another enthusiast in Coventry who cosmetically restored the car including fresh paint in Royal Blue and a new Black top and Black interior kit. The current owner purchased the car in 2007 and drove it for several years, performing service as-needed along the way. This work included installation of a new radiator, flushing the engine block, installation of a new cylinder head gasket, rebuilding of the front brake calipers, and other minor items, receipts for which are included in the car’s file. It has been largely static for the last two years and will certainly require some fettling prior to being driven long distances, including repair or re-grounding of the rear lights.

In addition to its aftermarket upgrades, the sale of this car is accompanied by a rather large and valuable assortment of spare parts which the seller encourages any prospective buyers to inspect prior to bidding. It is also accompanied by an original TR6 glovebox owner’s manual, and a 608-page Workshop Manual which will allow for future service work to be carried out with ease.
