“Win on Sunday, sell on Monday” was the old adage in the 1960s. If you win on Sunday the customers will rush to buy your car on Monday. In 1967 Chevrolet introduced the Camaro Z28 to compete with the Mustang in the showrooms and on the streets. However, Chevrolet took it a step farther and started to compete in the Trans-Am racing series. In 1968 the Camaro won the series championship. Ford now had to find a way to win back the championship. Former GM car designer Larry Shinoda was now working at Ford and became the man responsible for the cars unique styling and the name that would help lead this car to be an iconic car, Boss 302. Ford did not win the series in 1969 with the new Boss Mustang, however in 1970 the Boss 302 made it into the history books with a Trans-Am championship with the Bud Moore team and drivers Parnelli Jones and George Follmer.

This striking Mustang has been finished in Wimbledon White and is accented nicely with chrome bumper, black matte hood, font and rear spoilers and a “C”-stripe on the side of the car. The black interior is shown to be in good condition sporting front and rear high backed bucket seats. The engine is the 302-cid, 290-hp V-8 that would push this car from 0- to 60-mph in less than 7 seconds. Shifting gears is a four-speed, console-shift manual transmission. Although these cars were not high-option cars, this is equipped with power brakes, quick ratio steering, functional front spoiler and an AM radio. This SportsRoof design is riding on Magnum wheels with Goodyear raised letter tires.

This car has received a restoration at some point in its life, and is still shown to be in excellent condition with signs of use most evident in the interior. Only 1,628 Boss 302’s were manufactured in 1969. These cars are becoming increasingly popular and are in high demand among musclecar and Ford fanatics alike. This is your chance to own and drive a car that will be the Boss of the road.
