This Auburn features a then show winning quality older restoration that remains in nice condition. The car came from Mort Kresteller in California to the Fort Wayne, Indiana area around 1967 when purchased by the Keith Brown family, longtime Duesenberg owners and restorers, in primarily original condition and was a very solid running car when acquired. It was sold around 1970, still in original condition, to a friend and fellow collector, Ralph Hubler, who completed this restoration, which was executed in the 1971-72 period and won First Place in the Primary Division of open Auburns and the Popular Appeal Award at the prestigious 1972 Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg meet. The Hubler family eventually sold it to the Oser family, who kept the Auburn on display at the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, Indiana for a number of years. During this time, the Auburn was also the featured cover car for the 1984 book “Classic Cars” by Richard Nichols.
This Auburn is finished in red with a tan leather interior and black canvas top.The engine is a 280-cid, 150-hp inline eight-cylinder that is mated to a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The car is built on a 127-inch wheelbase and has the desirable supercharger. This supercharger unit is currently disconnected as the driveshaft has been removed; but this component and (it is believed) the balance of the internal workings accompany the otherwise fully-functioning Auburn automobile. The car has its original engine and chassis and is, of course, welcomed by the A-C-D Club and is a Full Classic with the esteemed CCCA.
