Largely due to their controversial styling, a significant portion of the population found Edsels to be polarizing. Yet, apart from the controversial styling and innovative Teletouch automatic transmission, it was much like other Ford Motor Company mid-priced cars. The styling is attributed to the late Roy Brown, whose tour de force was the later British Ford Cortina, which was a quite conventional and very popular car.

Edsel offered convertibles as both a top-line Citation and in the upper-middle Pacer series. This car is an example of the latter, of which just 1,876 were built. It is equipped with the steering-wheel-controlled Teletouch transmission and has power steering and brakes, as well as power windows, windshield washers, a signal-seeking AM radio, and the innovative Edsel instrument panel with a clock and compass.

This Edsel Pacer was used as a daily driver and then restored by the late actor Sage Stallone, son of Sylvester Stallone. It is attractive in its medium grey metallic paint and red-and-white vinyl interior. Most recently, it received a cosmetic freshening that included the installation of a new convertible top and a rear-mounted dual exhaust system. This car is in very good to excellent condition throughout, making it a stunning example of the most desirable year of Edsel production.
