360 bhp, 454 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine, Turbo 400 Hydra-Matic transmission, coil spring independent suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and disc-front and drum-rear power hydraulic brakes. Wheelbase: 112 in.

Introduced as the Chevelle Malibu SS in 1964, the budding muscle car was equipped with a power pack 283, followed by a 327 midway through the year. Development continued in 1965 with the more powerful SS 396 big block engine. However, Chevy wasn’t content to rest on its laurels during the horsepower race. The now infamous Chevelle SS was offered with a number of heavy-hitters in 1970.

This car is an LS5-powered Super Sport with Cowl Induction. Equipped with power front disc brakes, power steering, a center console and bucket seats, and a tilt steering wheel, it is a very nice car overall. Very good red paint contrasts nicely with the white stripe motif and black vinyl interior. An audacious gesture, the SS 454 showed that Chevy was firmly ensconced in the muscle car market.
