In 1939, while Chrysler and Dodge featured new bodywork, Plymouth cleverly disguised styling that incorporated all of the best and latest industry styling cues for 1939. Rich with a ripened patina, this Plymouth is a largely unrestored example that has been mildly maintained over generations for the purpose of general maintenance and road use. The engine bay has been, primarily, mechanically maintained; it displays some modern wiring and is in a clearly usable condition. The dry climate has aided the preservation of this coupe with a good underside, newer exhaust, and vintage spring covers. The paint over the straight body panels is still smooth with minor edge chipping. The dash and interior hardware remain largely original with newer upholstery. Relatively few ’39 Plymouths exist, and few in such an original state.
