198 hp, 292 cu. in. V-8 engine, three-speed automatic transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs and live rear with leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 119 in.

New for 1954 was the Sun Valley with a Plexiglas roof insert, as was the new overhead valve V-8. This brilliant model saw low production, with 9,761 U.S.-built units. This example was owned for 22 years by a regional president for the Early Ford V-8 Club; it is especially rare, as the data plate indicates it as being Canadian-built. Featured in the May 1997 issue of Collectible Automobile, it has traveled about 2,200 miles since restoration and remains in marvelous condition. The engine compartment is highly detailed and little can be found lacking. Nearly every conceivable factory option that was available for Mercury in 1954 can be found on this Sun Valley, including power steering, power brakes, power windows, backup lights, fender skirts, an automatic transmission, power seat, radio, heater, tinted windshield, and Continental kit. The care and upkeep on this Mercury is readily evident, and this example will be the prized possession of its next owner.
