This 911 Carrera S was one of just 4,972 911 Carrera coupes, and reportedly one of 759 Carrera S examples, built for the US/Canada market during the 1997 model year. Clad in the uncommon shade of Arena Red Metallic over Classic Grey leather with matching carpets, it represents a presentable, well documented, and uniquely specified example of Porsche’s last air-cooled model—the bookend of 993-generation production.

Launched in 1997 as a rear-wheel drive version of the Carrera 4S, Carrera S combined a widebody look with more power over the year’s base model, pushing out 282 horsepower through its 3.6-liter “VarioRam” flat-six cylinder engine via the optional “Tiptronic S” automatic transmission. It was specified from the factory with a suite of additional features which attest to its touring capabilities: traction control, cruise control, power sunroof, onboard computer, lightweight hollow-spoke wheels, and steering wheel controls for manual operation of the Tiptronic transmission. A more recent Alpine head unit has replaced the original Becker CDR.

Since 2018, approximately $8,000 of mechanical servicing has been furnished to car since by reputable specialists; notable line items include a full belt and gasket regimen, full set of new brake pads, and suite of new filters throughout. A history file containing these invoices accompanies the sale. This attractive 1997 911 Carrera S is further accompanied by its original manuals, maintenance booklet, tool roll, air compressor, spare, and jack.
