For much of the Chevrolet Corvette’s existence, the prospect of giving the model a rear-mid-engine configuration was seriously debated; pivotal Corvette personalities, Zora Arkus-Duntov among them, advocated strongly for the layout’s inherent handling advantages. With the introduction of the eighth-generation Corvette Stingray for 2020, the dream was finally realized. The result was a distinctly American sports car with world-class capabilities—and a suite of advanced features GM’s performance pioneers could have scarcely imagined.
Finished in Torch Red over an Adrenaline Red interior, this 2021 Corvette Stingray is desirably equipped with the Z51 performance package, which includes a special rear axle ratio and an electronic limited-slip rear differential, performance brakes, a heavy-duty cooling system, and a performance exhaust. Its 6.0-liter LT2 V-8, mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, produces 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, enabling stunning acceleration and speed.
This is hardly a minimalistic track car, however. The optional Z51 performance suspension offers magnetic selective ride control and performance traction management for a more confident, comfortable ride on a variety of road surfaces and under all weather conditions. Heated and ventilated eight-way power seats and a heated steering wheel, as well as a Bose sound system and touchscreen infotainment with navigation, help make the technologically advanced cabin comfortable, as well.
Like all Corvette Stingray coupes, the body-color roof panel is removable for an open-air driving experience; it stows easily in a rear storage compartment. Optional Carbon Flash painted aluminum wheels and Bright Red brake calipers, along with Torch Red seat belts, complete the car’s appearance.
Driven fewer than 60 miles at the time of cataloguing, this nearly new 2021 Corvette Stingray is an enticing example of the next chapter of American performance. It is accompanied by its original window sticker, owner’s manuals, and extra key.
