According to the accompanying BMIHT certificate, this charming Mini Cooper S is a desirable Mark I example, produced on July 5, 1966. Built to LHD specifications for the North American market, it was destined for Honolulu, Hawaii and fittingly finished in Island Blue with an Old English White roof and Grey and Gold trim. Fitted without a heater and with an extra fuel tank, it was dispatched from the factory one week after completion.

Remaining in the United States until 2014, it was then shipped back to the U.K. where it was acquired by the consignor that same year. In 2018, the consignor commissioned a suspension rebuild and engine overhaul. It was subsequently shipped to his home in France to be used there where it is currently registered. In 2019, the car received a new oil cooler, electric fan, new battery, and some bodywork was undertaken to ensure that the car was up to its owner’s exacting standards.

A 1960s Mini Cooper is an excellent first-time collector car for someone looking to enjoy British motoring at its best. Perfect for a family of four, numerous countries across Europe have active Mini clubs and ownership is made easy through an active network of parts suppliers and specialists. Presented in its original colour scheme and retaining its original engine, this example checks all the right boxes and is ready to be enjoyed.
