124 bhp, 2,912 cc inline six-cylinder engine, dual SU carburetors, four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, independent front suspension with coil springs, rigid rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and Girling front disc and rear hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 92 in.
In 1959, Austin-Healy introduced the 3000 as the replacement of the 100-6. The new model was powered by an enlarged engine and twin SU carburetors and equipped with Girling front disc brakes. This was the most powerful “Big Healey” yet, and BMC undertook an ambitious competition program to demonstrate its prowess in circuit racing and grueling European road rallies. Two different passenger configurations were offered, the BN7 two-seater and the BT7 2+2, which provided the thrill of open-air British motoring to two or four people.
This gorgeous four-seat Roadster comes with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and build sheet, which lists the car’s current Healey Ice Blue exterior and Navy Blue leather and vinyl interior as the original colors. An extensive rotisserie restoration was completed, which used both new and rebuilt parts where needed, including on the engine, gearbox, wheels, tires, wiring, chrome, and glass. Nothing was overlooked. All of the sheet metal on this fine example is stated to be original to the car and without issue. The soft-top is the correct blue English Everflex, and it also comes with a set of fresh and non-used side curtains.
Since the restoration, any servicing has been performed by Austin-Healey specialist Tom Rocke, of Healey Lane in Riverside, California, and Sam Pack’s knowledgeable staff. It is estimated that approximately 500 miles have been driven since the restoration, as part of the break-in and maintenance program, and every component has been kept in prime mechanical order, ready for a spirited drive on winding roads.
