The stylish, low-silhouette Starfire 98 convertible features a wrap-around windshield along with power steering, brakes, windows, seat and top. The power is derived from the Oldsmobile "Rocket" 324-cid, 185-hp V-8 engine. Oldsmobile produced the modest quantity of 6,800 Starfire 98 convertibles during the 1954 model year. First appearing as a concept car in GM's Motorama during 1953, the Starfire would eventually become a separate model in 1961. Between these two extremes the Starfire nameplate would also show itself on Oldsmobile's top of the line Ninety-Eight series convertibles.
