Chevrolet Truck's management team said that their new for 1981 pickups featured more changes than any year since 1973, the first year of this series. This body type was called Stepside by Chevrolet and Fenderside by GMC and features a narrow width pickup box featuring steps and exposed fenders with standalone tail lamps. This four-wheel-drive example has aftermarket alloy wheels, a heavy-duty tubular steel rear bumper and automatic front hubs that eliminate the need for the driver to exit the cab to engage the transfer case.
