The Corvair was a revolution for Chevrolet when it came out in 1960. Its air cooled flat-six engine mounted in the rear of the car allowed for a very compact sized car with a silhouette that was lower than anything else from GM. Allegations by Ralph Nader that the car had a dangerous propensity to roll over at speed have unfortunately tarnished its place in auto history. While true that sales plummeted after Naders comments, not widely known is that Chevrolet had been planning that time as the end to the model in any case. Until that time, the car had been immensely successful and very popular with auto writers and buyers alike. Also not widely known today is that ultimately the car was found to be no more prone to rollovers than its contemporaries.

As time has marched on, people have begun once more to appreciate the Corvair for the engineering marvel that it was and interest continues to grow in this compact from Chevrolet. This maroon convertible has a white top with black interior and four speed transmission.
