Completed by Ferrari in October of 2001, the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina offered here was built midway through the model’s production run, the 263rd car of just 448 examples built. While most 550 Barchettas were finished in Rosso Corsa, this example boasts the rare and highly desirable color scheme of Nero Daytona paintwork over a Pelle Beige leather interior. Delivered new to France, it is believed that the car spent time in France and later in Monaco before being imported to Switzerland.

Purchased by the most recent previous owner in Switzerland in July of 2019, the car was immediately entrusted to Sportgarage Leirer AG, an official Ferrari service centre in Stein, Switzerland. There, the car was treated to a major service including changing of the timing belts as well as some cosmetic work which included rectifying some minor imperfections on the left hand side of the car and repainting as necessary. Invoices for this work total to over 19,000 CHF. Importantly, the 550 Barchetta was granted Ferrari Classiche certification in December of 2019, confirming that the car remains factory correct throughout and retains its original chassis, engine, gearbox, and bodywork.

In January of 2020, the 550 Barchetta was enrolled into the Ferrari Premium program. Designed for Ferraris no more than twenty years old, it enables for the replacement of components subject to wear and tear over time, ensuring correct preventative maintenance and that cars of this age are kept in factory-correct condition. Further service work at Sportgarage Leirer AG included an annual service in February of 2021 at 5,265 km. The following year, the 550 Barchetta returned to Sportgarage Leirer AG and under the Ferrari Premium program, the coolant lines and fuel links were replaced alongside a number of associated hose clamps, and rubber boots for the steering rack.

Imported to the U.S. earlier this year by the current owner, the 550 Barchetta is accompanied by a number of previous service invoices from its time in Switzerland, along with a set of owners manuals including service book in the correct 550 Barchetta Pininfarina pouch with Ferrari-branded Maglite, its Ferrari Classiche certification binder, a Ferrari car cover, tool kit, and the soft-top in its leather bag.

Twenty-five years on, Ferrari’s 550 Barchetta has evolved into the epitome of the modern classic Ferrari, checking all the right boxes of desirability in today’s market. Built in limited numbers, a V-12 engine at its heart, with power managed through a six-speed gated manual transmission, the 550 Barchetta offers analog thrills in an open-top format. This particular example stands out from the rest due to its low mileage, showing just 5,504 km (approximately 3,420 miles) on its odometer at the time of cataloging, exceptional condition, and stunning color combination. Needless to say, this would be a true highlight of any collection of modern Ferraris.
