The ultimate symbol of success for any upwardly mobile American in the mid-1950s was to own a Cadillac. Few cars epitomize the optimistic mid-century Eisenhower era more than this 1955 Series 62 Coupe DeVille, built not only to impress, but also to take advantage of the new system of high-speed highways being constructed across the country at the time. The smooth and powerful 331-cubic-inch, 230-horsepower V-8 engine and four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission made the elegant 1955 Cadillac ideally suited for all that America’s roads had to offer.

This exceptional Coupe DeVille was originally specified in a subdued two-tone green over a green interior, according to the trim tag mounted on its cowl. It has since been masterfully refinished in an attention-grabbing red during a full rotisserie restoration executed under prior ownership. The luxurious interior features sumptuous two-tone red and white leather seats that perfectly compliment the exterior.

Attention to detail is apparent throughout, from the fit and finish of the body to the beautifully executed engine bay and trunk compartment. For comfort and convenience, this Cadillac was factory-equipped with power windows, power steering, power brakes, power driver’s seat, dual side-view mirrors, and E-Z-Eye safety glass. Atop the dashboard is an Autronic Eye automatic headlight dimmer. A set of wide whitewall radial tires mounted on brilliant chrome wire wheels add to the beauty and curb appeal of this Coupe DeVille, with optional rear fender skirts accentuating the long silhouette.

Since joining the esteemed collection of Ron and Sarah Jury in 2018, this Coupe DeVille has scarcely been driven but thoroughly enjoyed. In keeping with their high standards, the water pump and radiator hoses and clamps were replaced in spring of 2023, while the brakes were overhauled in 2024 with a new master cylinder and other sorting.

As it was when new, this carefully maintained Cadillac will be the source of pride for its next owner. With an abundance of power and a full complement of luxury features, it is the perfect choice for car shows, club events, and touring in comfort and style.
