This sympathetically restored Ferrari 365 GT4 BB is believed to be the only example finished from the factory in the combination of Bianco Polo over Pelle Blu, with the rare interior treatment and trunk area understood to be largely original. Delivered new in June 1974 to Motor S.A.S. di Carla Allegretti in Rome, Italy, it was sold in early 1975 to its first owner, a Mr. Norelli of Cosenza, Italy. He would retain the Ferrari for 12 years, until January 1987, after which the car would pass to its second owner in Rome, who would sell the GT4 BB to its third owner, Rome-based aluminum manufacturer Comital, in February 1988. After the Comital business closed in 1996, this 365 GT4 BB made its way to Sweden and into the hands of Anders Lindberg, who would retain the car until 2000, after which it passed to a dealer that sold it to John Helenius in 2001. Mr. Helenius would enjoy the Ferrari until 2014, when it passed to an owner in England.
From January through April 2015, Wildae Restorations Ltd. in Devon, England, removed the engine to perform a timing belt service and recondition the starter motor and alternator. Several months later, London Ferrari dealer Joe Macari Performance Cars replaced the wheels, tires, and hubs in June 2015, installed a new battery in June 2017, and retrimmed the rear shelf in April 2018. That same month, Ferrari Classiche issued a certificate of authenticity and accompanying Red Book, documenting the car’s factory-correct color scheme, numbers-matching engine and gearbox, original bodywork showing no signs of having been repaired at the time, and original-style suspension, brakes, and wheels.
Invoices on file indicate that Joe Macari Performance Cars would sell the Ferrari to another owner in April 2020, and subsequently to the current owner in November 2021, who would commission the dealer to service the engine. The work included replacing the timing, auxiliary belts, fuel hoses, spark plugs, fluids, filters, battery, battery terminals, and all four tires. The work, completed in March 2022 at a cost of £9,599.75, also included rebuilding the distributor, setting the ignition timing and carburetor mixtures, renovating the undercarriage, and painting the engine bay.
In May 2022, the current owner imported the Ferrari to the United States and enjoyed it for a year, before entrusting it to noted West Coast restorer Canepa in July 2023. The shop would undertake more than $90,000 worth of additional work over the following two years. This included removing the engine and performing a timing belt service, replacing various seals and gaskets, refurbishing the intake and exhaust manifolds, rebuilding the carburetors, refurbishing the rear brakes, servicing the differential and parts of the ignition and cooling systems, as well as repainting the exhaust system and several exterior trim pieces, including the roof spoiler, rear valance, and parts of the engine cover.
Invoices for Canepa’s work, completed in March 2025, are in an accompanying history file, which also includes original Italian registration documents, other ownership records from Sweden and the United Kingdom, import documents, and invoices from Wildae Restorations Ltd. and Joe Macari Performance Cars. Also included are a binder of restoration photos and the coveted Ferrari Classiche Red Book.
Now offered in wonderfully preserved condition, benefiting from documented maintenance, sympathetic restoration by marque experts, and Ferrari Classiche certification, this 365 GT4 BB—believed to be the only example of the 387 produced with its stunning white-over-blue color combination—is the ideal acquisition for the discerning collector seeking one of the best surviving specimens of Ferrari’s seminal, flat-12, mid-engine production car—the lightest, purest, and rarest of the Berlinetta Boxer breed.
