Few American automobiles command the reverence of the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette. The final year of the C2 Sting Ray, 1967 models reflect years of continuous refinement, both stylistically and mechanically. With its sleek fastback profile, razor-sharp detailing, and a now-legendary selection of big-block V-8 engines, the 1967 Corvette is considered by enthusiasts and collectors alike to be among the most coveted of all Corvettes.

Completed in November 1966, this remarkable example, chassis 104495, was reportedly ordered new by Don Steves Chevrolet of La Habra, California, as a personal gift for Mr. Steves’ wife. As such, he lavished the car with factory options, headlined by the formidable L68 427-cubic-inch V-8 engine, fitted with the iconic Tri-Power triple Holley carburetor system and factory-rated at 400 horsepower. This potent engine was paired with a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission and a 3.08:1 Positraction rear axle, and further complemented by factory air conditioning, speed warning indicator, telescoping steering column, off-road exhaust, AM/FM radio, shoulder harnesses, and power steering, brakes, and windows.

After just a few months with Steves, the Corvette was reportedly transferred to A.B. Smith Chevrolet in Portland, Oregon, where it was promptly sold. It remained in the Rose City through the mid-1990s, during which time it embarked on a highly successful show career. Reflecting decades of meticulous care and preservation, chassis 104495 earned multiple accolades, including National Corvette Restorers Society Top Flight awards in 1989, 1991, and 1993, as well as an NCRS Performance Verification award in 1991. Underscoring its remarkable state of preservation, the engine still wears a factory smog pump. Acquired by the consignor’s family in 1996, the Corvette has remained cherished and maintained in a manner befitting its stature.

With its iconic stinger hood, powerful big-block presence, and rare combination of factory options and award-winning pedigree, this 1967 Corvette Coupe represents not only a pinnacle of American performance but an exceptional opportunity for the discerning collector.
