The announcement of a new Porsche 911 Speedster is a special occasion, with each iteration paying homage to the original 1954 356 Speedster—the performance and design icon that did so much to establish Porsche’s reputation—in its own unique way. For the 991-generation, Porsche incorporated Speedster hallmarks including a cut-down, raked windshield and prominent streamliners adorned with retro-inspired gold “Speedster” script behind the seats. Aesthetic flourishes, like gauges with 356-esque green numerals and white needles on a black background, deepened the connection to Porsche’s past. The model first emerged in concept form in 2018 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Porsche’s founding, and only 1948 production versions were built.

Relatively few 911 Speedster buyers selected the $24,510 Heritage Design Package, which added vintage-style motorsport-inspired graphic highlights—as worn by the competition 356 Speedsters of yore—to a classic GT Silver Metallic exterior. The roundels on this example, number 1927 of the 1948 produced, proudly bear racing #48 in a nod to Porsche’s founding year; this was also the number seen in promotional literature for the production Speedster.

The Heritage Design Package further added a beautiful two-tone Cognac and black leather interior complemented by silver seat buckets, as well as black-painted brake calipers; the Porsche crest on the hood uses the historic design. Additional options selected for this Speedster include LED headlights in Black with PDLS, dashboard trim and steering column casing in leather, Chrono package, BOSE surround sound system, front axle lift system, and an extended-range fuel tank, contributing to the $314,490 total price shown on the accompanying window sticker.

But the Speedster is about much more than just an image. At its rear is a 502-horsepower 911 GT3-derived 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox for maximum driver engagement. Carbon fiber and other lightweight materials were used to create the hood, front fascia, Speedster-specific rear lid, and even the seat buckets. Performance potential is immense—and of course, it is all best enjoyed with the special Speedster top down.

Showing just 914 miles at the time of cataloguing, this 2019 911 Speedster has been scrupulously maintained, with its warranty book confirming annual service by Porsche of Charleston, South Carolina, most recently in October 2024. Now offered by its first owners, it is accompanied by window sticker, owner’s books, promotional literature, car cover, and even a serial number-matched Porsche Design Chronograph.

Relatively few were able to enjoy the limited-production 991-generation 911 Speedster when new; here is a truly enticing opportunity to experience one of Porsche’s most thrilling, historically inspired modern offerings, complete with the desirable Heritage Design Package, in this little-used condition.
