If the “standard” 911 GT2 was not enough, Porsche turned the volume up to 11 with the GT2 RS. It was a fitting finale for the Type 997 generation. Porsche trimmed the GT2’s 3,175 lb. curb weight by a further 154 lbs. by further utilizing additional carbon fiber body panels and trim throughout. A new version of the twin-turbo, four-cam six-cylinder developed for the GT1 Le Mans race car was fitted with new four-valve heads, Variocam-Plus, and variable-turbine technology, and produced an eye-watering 620 hp and 516 foot-pounds of torque.

With further attention given to the GT2’s aerodynamics, highlighted by its imposing bi-plane rear spoiler, performance was nothing short of astounding. Sixty mph could be achieved from a standstill in just 3.3 seconds according to Porsche, but many reviewers believed that time was a very conservative estimate. One-hundred mph could be reached in less than seven seconds, leading toward a top speed of 209 mph. The performance was reined in through Porsche’s PCCB ceramic-brake system, the PASM adaptive suspension, and stability control. Perhaps the car’s most impressive performance figure was its lap time around the Nürburgring Nordschleife: 7 minutes and 18 seconds, faster even than Porsche’s Carrera GT, the Ferraris 488 GTB, Maserati MC12, Bugatti Veyron 16.4, and Lexus LFA Nürburgring.

The 472nd example of just 500 built, this GT2 RS was finished in Porsche’s iconic GT Silver Metallic over a black interior. Additional options include adaptive sport seats in leather and Alcantara, which provide more comfort over the bucket seats for longer stints of driving, a thicker Alcantara steering wheel, black-painted center lock wheels, PCM navigation system (painted in matching GT Silver), and clear taillights, amongst a handful of other options totaling $16,350. In addition, it is currently fitted with aftermarket AWE exhaust, which sounds incredible at speed. The original factory exhaust is included with the sale. Built by Porsche in December of 2010, the car was subsequently shipped to the U.S.

Delivered new through Cherry Hill Imports of New Jersey according to its CARFAX, the car’s first owner brought the car to Pennsylvania in August of 2011, where it spent the first four years of its life. The Porsche had been driven just 3,200 miles before being sold to its second owner, a Porsche collector based in Connecticut. Remaining with him for two years, the car was then purchased by its current owner and shipped to Southern California, where it has remained since. In his ownership, the car was driven and enjoyed regularly, but always well kept, currently showing less than 4,500 miles on its odometer and has just undergone a complete service.

“Porsche’s 911 GT2 RS is a brute, lightweight, twin-turbocharged 620-hp bout of madness that stemmed from Stuttgart’s quest to see how high up the sports-car ladder the 911 could punch. Overpowered almost to a fault and with enough grip to peel lane markings off the pavement, it is the most serious roadgoing Porsche ever.” –Car & Driver, July 2011

Porsche’s most powerful street-legal production car at the time of its unveiling and still a force to be reckoned with today, the 997 GT2 RS is not for the faint of heart, but will certainly reward those daring enough to get behind the wheel with performance that can only be described as otherworldly. Finished in perhaps the most iconic color combination for the GT2 RS, this low-mileage example is ready to be driven and enjoyed, as intended.
