Looking to celebrate their 100th birthday, the Ford Motor Company wanted to create a car that would catapult the company into the 21st century while also give a nod to their illustrious past. While Ford has created a number of groundbreaking vehicles, from the Model T to the Mustang, there was one that pulled at enthusiasts' heartstrings like no other: the GT40. Ford wanted to show that, at 100 years old and 40 years after the GT40 program began, it was still capable of producing a world-class supercar.

The Ford GT is a hugely attractive automobile from all angles, maintaining a striking visual similarity to its forefathers. While the original GT40 was just 40 inches tall, this GT measured in at 44.3 inches tall, helping to accommodate taller passengers. From a performance standpoint, it was just as groundbreaking as its predecessors. Ford used Ferrari’s lauded 360 Modena as a performance benchmark, and the Ford GT easily bested that car in virtually every category. With a top speed of nearly 200 mph, the Ford GT could sprint from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds, making its closest competitors Porsche’s Carrera GT and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.

However, where the Ford GT really beat out its German and Italian rivals was in price. With an MSRP of just under $140,000, the Ford GT represented excellent value for money and was the best automotive bang-for-your-buck one could get at the time.

Presented here is the 517th of 2,022 Ford GTs built in 2005. This Ford GT was delivered to its first and only owner in upstate New York with the optional and highly desirable white racing stripes and optional McIntosh stereo system. It has remained in his ownership its entire life, having traveled just 287 miles from new. Furthermore, it has been always stored in a climate-controlled garage and regularly serviced throughout its life. Accompanying the car is paperwork from its original purchase, its original window sticker, service invoices, the owner’s manual, and a factory car cover. Needless to say, the car is in immaculate condition both inside and out and presents virtually as new.
