The convertible version of what many believe will be Ferrari’s last front-engined, V-12-powered berlinetta, the 812 GTS was also the first front-engined production V-12-powered convertible offered by Ferrari since the discontinuation of the 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider. It borrowed many of the 812 Superfast’s best features, including the potent V-12 with its 789 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque, while adopting new touches such as a transmission with shorter gear ratios that ensured acceleration remained equal to the coupe. Styling was massaged throughout to ensure maximum aerodynamic efficiency even without a roof, which when lowered folds and disappears under a tonneau within the rear deck. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph took an estimated 2.8 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 211 mph.

Ordered new by its first and only owner, the 812 GTS offered here was specified to a remarkable level, with its finishes in special-order Rosso Fuoco with Nero interior being only the tip of the iceberg. The remarkable roster of features included extensive use of carbon fiber, including for the front bumper valance and spoiler, filter box, engine covers, rear side bumper and diffuser, the underside of the doors, inner door handles, driver zone and bridge, door panels, kick panel, dashboard, and console; there is almost more carbon fiber in the car than leather, as the (carbon fiber) seats feature details in colored Alcantara and Bianco stitching, with the Cavallino stitched in Bianco on each headrest. Matte black forged racing wheels were fitted as well. Naturally the car is complete with “Scuderia Ferrari” shields, a parking camera with passenger display, and front driving camera, as well as a suspension lifter and titanium exhaust pipes.

Accompanied by its tool set, Ferrari battery tender, and presentation key, this example of a watershed open Ferrari has been driven 1,645 miles at the time of cataloguing, and it remains in outstanding condition throughout. It is the ideal Ferrari for the connoisseur who favors highly bespoke specification, in the best imaginable colors and trim, chosen for maximum lightness and performance—as well as an utterly striking configuration to behold.
