Six minutes and fifty-one seconds. That’s all it took for Porsche factory driver Lars Kern to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife on 20 September 2017. The astonishing time earned him, and the “Weissach” package-equipped 911 GT2 RS he was driving, a new production car record—dethroning the heavily specialised Radical SR8 LM after its eight-year reign. A twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre flat-six engine developing 691 horsepower also made the 991-generation track day superstar the most powerful road-going 911 in history upon its launch.
For those who might have missed out on an original allocation, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS offered here presents bidders with an unmissable opportunity to acquire an “as new” example, for it displayed a mere 101 kilometres at the time of cataloguing.
Delivered to Switzerland on 14 November 2018 via Porsche Zentrum Zürich, this car is finished in GT Silver Metallic. Notably equipped with the “Weissach” package, it wears Satin Black forged magnesium centre-lock wheels that combine with a carbon fibre roof, anti-roll bars, and coupling rods to save 30 kilograms. The interior, meanwhile, blends Guards Red and Black leather and Alcantara for the Porsche 918 Spyder-specification bucket seats. Further enhancing the cabin, this car was configured with the optional extended leather trim package for the dashboard and centre tunnel, plus white instruments dials and a white-faced Sport Chrono stopwatch.
Technical highlights of this Rennsport tour de force include the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, ceramic composite brakes, an extended range fuel tank, Porsche Active Suspension Management, rear-axle steering, and a torque-vectoring system. As part of a generous configuration, the Porsche also benefits from a rearview camera, cruise control, a Bose surround sound system, and a front-axle lifter.
Subsequently acquired by The Untouched Collection, this GT2 RS is accompanied by its folio containing owner’s guides and a service book. Stamps in the latter record returns to Porsche Zentrum Zürich for servicing in 2020 and 2021, plus a visit to Porsche Zentrum Winterthur in November 2023.
Wearing a generous application of lucrative options and showing minimal use, this Porsche 911 GT2 RS is among the most appealing examples of its kind.
