Finished by the factory in the iconic 997.2-generation GT3 RS colour scheme of Grey Black with Guards Red accents, this GT3 RS was delivered new via Porsche Centre Leicester in January of 2011 to a member of the Bamford family, one of Britian’s most well-known motoring families. The car was outfitted in Clubsport specification with a roll cage and bucket seats in addition to options including red instrument dials, black-faced stopwatch, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, Sound Package Plus, top-tinted windscreen, six-point harness, halogen headlights, Sport Chrono Plus package, and large helpings of interior trim comprising Alcantara and carbon fibre.
The GT3 RS remained with its original owner for eight years, finally selling in 2018 having accrued approximately 1,000 miles in their ownership. Remaining in the UK ever since with a handful of careful owners, today the odometer shows just 1,992 miles at the time of cataloguing, meaning it is surely among the lowest-mileage examples in the country.
The car’s last annual service was carried out by Porsche Centre York in May 2026, at which point the odometer read 1,970 miles. The car’s full service history is chronicled by its original service manual and with invoices in the accompanying history file comprising maintenance by Porsche main dealers from new until now.
To many enthusiasts, the 997.2-generation 911 is considered the sweet spot of the water-cooled 911 range. More modern than a 996 but smaller in footprint when compared to a 991 or the current-generation 992, the 997.2 incorporates some welcome upgrades over the 997.1 and boasts a classic look and feel alongside usable performance without too much technological interference. In the case of the GT3 RS, as a model it sits neatly at the intersection of analogue performance and practicality, giving a driver-focused experience in a car much easier to use than a Ferrari 430 Scuderia or Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. Nearly fifteen years after production concluded, the 997.2 GT3 RS is still considered one of Porsche’s very best driver’s cars, and thus one of the 21st Century’s greatest driver’s cars.
The vast majority of GT3 RSs were bought and used as intended and it is often easier said than done to find a low mileage, unmolested example. Well outfitted and ordered new by someone with lot of experience at the wheel of some of the greatest cars on the planet, this is a car to be cherished.
