At the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show, McLaren hosted a press conference that served as a statement of intent for the marque’s burgeoning and impressive product portfolio. Alongside teasing a new grand tourer (shown in full two months later as the McLaren GT), the company announced a McLaren Special Operations (MSO)-engineered version of the existing 720S Spider. Further to unveiling a 720S GT3 for a customer race team, Mc:Laren appeased core sports car fans by announcing that the company had no interest in following the trend to make an SUV. The spotlight shone on McLaren’s stand when the Senna GTR was displayed in its final form, having debuted as a concept one year prior, while McLaren exhibited the limited-production Speedtail for the first time after its earlier reveal.

Joining this impressive display was the very McLaren 720S Spider offered here. Finished in Belize Blue with extensive application of exterior black carbon fibre trim, including MSO-defined carbon fibre options, the 720S was generously equipped by its maker to fully demonstrate the wealth of extras available to customers. Indeed, the Spider is finished with over £100,000-worth of optional add-ons, with the full specification list available to view on file.

Built in left-hand drive and to German configuration, the 720S Spider was later taken to the United Kingdom, where it was registered for the road in February 2020. From then, the McLaren has been retained by just one “gentleman collector” owner, who has used the car sparingly. At the time of cataloguing, the car’s odometer read just 600 miles (approximately 965 kilometres). Despite the car’s limited use, the 720S has been maintained to schedule by its consigning owner, with its most recent main dealer service noted in October 2025, coinciding with the odometer reading just 537 miles. At this point, Grange McLaren Hatfield performed the fifth scheduled service, carried out manufacturer service campaign updates, and issued a new MoT certificate.

The McLaren arrives at auction offered with its battery charger, car cover, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, owner’s manual, selected workshop invoices, and factory spec sheet. Important to note is that the car will be serviced in advance of the sale and thus can be considered ripe for imminent use. An important part of McLaren’s motor show history in Switzerland, built to European specification, and road registered in the United Kingdom, this car could easily be enjoyed whether it remains on home soil or returns to continental Europe.
