The vehicle being offered, 5-ton Truck, 6x6, “SRI Crane Truck” is based on the 5-ton 6x6 Truck, MC-1. The chassis was delivered in November 1957. Austin Western of Aurora, Illinois produced the crane. This vehicle is in overall good shape. The exterior paint is in very good shape. It runs and drives well. All driver's controls appear to function normally. The tires are in good condition. It is not known if the crane functions.
This vehicle appears to have been initially used by the U.S. Air Force before being transferred to SRI International, which is a nonprofit, independent research company that does R&D for government and private industry. Nothing is known of the vehicles service record.
