Intended for the American market, Maserati introduced the Sebring in 1962 as a 2+2 coupe. Ideal for grand touring across the growing U.S. motorway system, it was dubbed Sebring in celebration of the marque’s victory at the famed 12 Hours of Sebring in 1957. With 235-hp available from the car’s inline-six cylinder engine fitted with Lucas indirect fuel injection, the Sebring was capable of a 0-60 mph time of 8.5 seconds leading to a top speed of 145-mph. Furthermore, it was fitted with disc brakes as standard to help reel in the speed.

A second series of the Sebring was introduced in 1965 which brought about slight styling changes to make the Sebring slightly more similar to the Frua-designed Quattroporte. Designers squared off the car’s bumpers and mounted the taillights horizontally rather than vertically and also made the trunk lid opening slightly narrower.

According to documents supplied by Maserati Classiche, this particular Sebring is a Series II example that was produced in March of 1965. Finished in Rosso Cordoba over a White leather interior and fitted with a Nardi Volante steering wheel and electric clock, it was delivered new to a customer in Brussels. It is believed that the car spent the majority of its life in Europe. Purchased by its current U.S. based collector roughly twelve years ago, the car has been well-maintained in its current ownership and driven sparingly. In its current ownership, the fuel injection system was removed and sent to specialists in Holland to be rebuilt and minor rust was removed from the doors before the car was fully repainted in its original color. The consignor also notes that the leather is original, but the foam inside the seats has been replaced to make for greater comfort.

Seldom seen today as only 598 Maserati Sebrings of all types were produced, this particular example would be a wonderful warm-weather daily driver or Sunday cruiser for the enthusiast looking to enjoy the finer points of Italian motoring.
