A remarkable automobile, the Ford Model T was more than just an invention—it changed the way Americans lived. As a cultural icon, Henry Ford’s proud little motor car awakened a nation to the prospect of faster, more reliable transportation. The Model T was the most affordable and attainable car on the road and would become Ford's benchmark automobile, introducing the still relatively small and innocuous automaker to the world market.

Over the years Ford continued to improve the popular Model T, starting with shifting the steering wheel from the right-hand side of the car to the left. Even more impressive was its engine, producing 20 horsepower and enabling speeds of over 40 mph. Overall, they were great cars and the public responded, buying them in increasingly large numbers for the ensuing two decades.

This 1912 Ford Model T Touring is beautifully restored in blue with color-matched wheels and a black convertible top. Complimenting the dark hue are numerous brass accoutrements, including headlights, cowl lights, sideview mirrors, and an elaborately spiraled manual horn reminiscent of a brass musical instrument. The interior features black button-tufted seats and a Stewart Warner speedometer. A set of side curtains for inclement weather accompany the sale, along with two front doors in storage cases and four extra wheels with white rubber tires.

The Model T was formerly owned by Robert “Bob” Richmon, who acquired it from a friend and completed its restoration. Under his ownership the car achieved an Antique Automobile Club of America Senior First Prize and was awarded the AACA Cup, one of the organization’s most prestigious awards. Additionally, in 2016, the car was awarded the coveted Stynoski Award by the Model T Ford Club International (MTFCI) for best restoration of the year. At the end of 2016 this Model T was also nominated as one of the 20 best restored cars shown that year at AACA national meets, which earned it an invitation to compete for the AACA Zenith Award the following year in Missouri. Alas, despite being nominated, it did not end up competing for the Zenith after all, having changed hands in January 2017, joining Sonny Schwartz’s Suzy Q Collection.

A true automotive milestone, the Ford Model T remains a perennial favorite within the classic car hobby. This example, beautifully restored and boasting an AACA Cup and Stynoski Award, remains a celebrated piece of automotive history even over 100 years after it was built.
