The Eldorado model made its debut in 1953 as Cadillac’s top-of-the-line offering. The limited-production convertible was based on the 1952 El Dorado “Golden Anniversary” concept. The beautiful Harley Earl design was available in a variety of unique colors and brimming with luxury appointments. An immediate hit, the Eldorado would remain a status symbol model for years to come.

By 1964 the Eldorado was in its sixth generation of production. The striking Bill Mitchell design marked the 17th, and what would be the final, year of Cadillac’s famous tail fins. Subtle design changes were made building on the 1963 design. Power and performance were improved with a bigger 429-cubic-inch V-8 now backed by a Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission. Cadillac remained at the forefront of American luxury, debuting the Comfort Control system, a thermostat-controlled automatic heating and air conditioning system—an industry first and a feature many other marques would not adopt until years later. For 1964, Cadillac would produce 1,870 examples of the Eldorado Biarritz.

This 1964 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz was built on 6 February 1964, finished in metallic Firemist Saddle. It has benefited from one repaint over the course of its life and sports a tan convertible top. The Cadillac retains its original Palomino leather interior with bucket seats and the new-for-1964 feature, Comfort Control climate system. This was in addition to a power convertible top, power windows, and a six-way power seat. According to the trim tag the Cadillac was further equipped with the following accessories: Soft ray tinted glass, power trunk control, power door locks, air conditioner, and seat belts. This example was purchased by current ownership in 2014 and is described as never having been fully restored. The odometer displays 64,050 miles at the time of cataloguing which are believed to be original; however, this is not stated on the title. It is accompanied by a copy of its Cadillac build sheet.

From the last year for the iconic Cadillac fins, this 1964 Eldorado Biarritz, finished in the beautiful color combination of Firemist Saddle over Palomino leather, is a delight to drive and sure to draw attention with its striking Bill Mitchell design.
