Packard introduced the Tenth Series in January 1933. At the entry level, the former Standard Eight was replaced by the Eight, available on two different wheelbase lengths. The shorter 127.5-inch wheelbase model was dubbed the 1001 and could be purchased in four different styles of coachwork. The larger model 1002 featured a 136-inch wheelbase and was offered in 13 body styles, including the dashing Coupe offered here. The entire eight-cylinder lineup featured numerous engineering improvements, including a new dual-downdraft Stromberg carburetor and a special manifold that raised the output of its inline eight-cylinder engine to a stout 120 horsepower.

This lovely Packard Eight Coupe was delivered to its first owner in Springfield, Massachusetts in July of 1933, according to its identification plate on the firewall. It is said to have benefitted from a previous restoration. The consignor acquired the coupe in 2019 and it remains well preserved overall, with a striking presentation, thanks in no small part to its handsome, maroon-and-silver color scheme. Inside, beige cloth upholstery complements the period aesthetic, coordinating well with the lovely dash and its pleasing instrumentation.

The exterior features desirable period accessories, including a rear-mounted spare, dual driving lights, and dual horns. Wide whitewall tires mounted to color-matched wire wheels with chrome-plated hubcaps and trim rings complete the attractive appearance. Though showing some patina, the engine compartment remains presentable, and the engine stamping falls within the correct sequencing for Tenth Series model Eights.

Well preserved and presented in a lovely color scheme, this Packard Eight Coupe is an ideal candidate for showing and touring, sure to bring its next owner much pride of ownership and enjoyment.
