The last stylish gasp of independent Detroit automaker Graham, the Hollywood used the body dies of the 1936–1937 Cord, with redesigned front sheet metal on a new purpose-designed chassis with Graham’s own six-cylinder engine. With the optional supercharged engine, the Hollywood enjoyed the best power-to-weight ratio, 25:1, of any American car of its time, and was favored by Bill France Sr. and other early stock car racers.

Unfortunately, however, the Hollywood could not save Graham. After building 1,859 of the cars over three years, they gave up on the automobile industry and turned instead to real estate.

The supercharged Hollywood Custom offered here was restored by James Chernock, the former president of the Graham Owners Club International. Finished to a very high standard, the car was completed in 1996. It has been only sparingly enjoyed since, mostly at shows, and continues to show extremely well, having been stored in a climate-controlled environment since the restoration. The current owner exhibited at the Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance in 2016, and took 2nd in Class. Accompanying the car is photographic documentation of its restoration.

One of the finest restored Hollywoods available, this car would be an exciting counterpoint to a Cord in its new owner’s garage, representing the final evolution of Gordon Buehrig’s famed design. It is, however, stunning in its own right, as the last great automobile produced by one of the most famous American names of its era.
