In the late 1990s, Nike was interested in getting into the racing scene. At the time, Michael Schumacher and Scuderia Ferrari were at the top of the world standings. In 1996 Nike partnered with Schumacher and apparently gave him a new pair of shoes for every race of the season. However, by 2002 FILA acquired the rights to supply Ferrari’s team footwear. That said, Schumacher would remark that his Nikes were among his favorite to drive in. Presented here is a pair of those rare driving shoes, each with Michael Schumacher’s signature stitched on the outside of the shoe. Framed and mounted in a display case.
