With fewer than 750 units produced over four years and no successor following its discontinuation in 2009, the Azure remains one of the most desirable and exclusive Bentleys of the 21st century. Based on the full-size Arnage platform, this ultra-luxury drop-top coupe can accommodate four adults with a level of comfort and style that few, if any, modern convertibles can muster.
After a production hiatus of four years, Bentley introduced an all-new Azure in 2006. At its heart was the company’s familiar 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine mated to a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. Despite weighing nearly three tons, Bentley claimed the Azure could sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 171 mph.
This example was produced in May 2008 and delivered new to Bentley Northbrook in Illinois. It left the factory finished in Magnolia with a Beige multi-layer, power-operated soft top over a Cotswold and Autumn leather interior featuring light wood veneers. A copy of the Bentley vehicle invoice indicates that this Azure was optioned from the factory with a chromed radiator shell, stainless steel matrix mesh grille and lower front bumper inserts, chromed door mirror caps, 19-inch twin-spoke chromed alloy wheels, leather steering wheel with veneer inserts, embroidered Bentley motif in the seats, recessed Bentley badges and chrome strips in the waist rails, two-tone top roll, and reversing camera.
An accompanying service invoice from Braman Motorcars of Palm Beach, Florida, indicates that the oil was changed, and the battery and two tires were replaced in March 2021. The car is accompanied by a Bentley trickle charger, and the owner’s manual and service handbook with leather case. At the time of cataloguing, the Bentley had been driven only 32,037 miles.
With no full-size convertible currently in Bentley’s lineup, this Azure represents a rare opportunity to own a modern, exclusive, ultra-luxury drop-top commodious enough to accommodate four adults in supreme style and comfort.
