For the 1957 model year, a number of visual changes were made to the popular Chevrolet 1/2-ton pickup. The former eggcrate grille was changed to a more open-mouthed design, with eight bars holding an open trapezoid in the center, and a pair of “windsplits” appeared on the hood. Dished steering wheel, safety door locks and strikers, and a more rigidly mounted rear axle were among the other improvements. The V-8 models grew to 283 cubic inches, 160-hp and 270 foot-pounds of torque.
Having experienced a complete frame-off restoration, this Series 3100 Stepside is finished in a shade of turquoise reminisce of an original factory color and has a cloth and vinyl gray interior. This nicely presented Chevrolet runs with the Thriftmaster 235-cid inline six-cylinder engine connected to a column-shift manual transmission. Among the equipment is a side-mounted spare on the driver’s side, finished wood bed floor with color-keyed retaining strips, color-keyed steel wheels, factory hubcaps and whitewall tires. Tidy throughout, this pickup is ready for work or play.
