Important new features distinguished the Ford V-8 for 1939; although different in appearance, the streamlined beauty of the new Ford was inspired by the Lincoln-Zephyr – at that time the acknowledged style leader among modern motor cars. They were regarded as big and roomy, engineered for quiet and comfort – it was regarded as “a revelation in restful riding.”
The 1939 Ford Deluxe Tudor being offered has all the style that was promised by Ford all those years ago; the difference with this car is that it’s been frame-off restored as a restomod in 2009 and has acquired both power and modern convenience in the process. Only 400 miles are reported to have been driven since the restoration was finalized.
Looking very close to original specs, this white with burgundy interior beauty now is driven by a rebuilt 351-cid V-8 Ford engine that has been upgraded with a mild camshaft, four-barrel carburetor and engine chrome package. The automatic transmission has a long shifter on the floor and the rear end is a “newer Ford” unit. The chassis has been modified with a dropped front axle and the wire wheels are new by Vintique and mounted with new Bridgestone radial tires. The engine bay is neat and tidy and features a Afco radiator. Other equipment fitted to this custom includes dual stainless steel exhaust, Vintage brand heater and air conditioning, Classic Instruments white-faced analog gauges, banjo-style steering wheel and AM/FM radio. Keep the period style and drive many worry-free miles in this orderly machine.
